Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry for HP 3D DriveGuard and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download and install the version of HP 3D DriveGuard on the following link.

Thank you very much for your reply. I had tried uninstall and re-install before looking at the Forum for answers. When I realized my problem apparently was pretty common, I started looking for the same problem listed in the posts with your answer and solution. I found a solution that you had recommended on 9-4-2017. I decided to try it before I had received your answer to my post. When I followed your instructions to the letter, it worked! Success on my first post was very rewarding.
I hope you will keep helping all of us who know what a novice is when it comes to the deeper problems.
