@demon_,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

As far as I was able to ascertain, your HP Pavilion g7-2089sd (B6G73EA) with motherboard SSID: 1843 ("BaseBoard Product") requires BIOS version F.39 to be downloaded from here, which was designed natively for Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Btw, if you are launching this executable file from a machine running Windows 10 or Windows 11, the Windows SmartScreen or compatibility layer might block it.  This download is meant for g7-2xxx laptops with an Intel Core processor.

Please note, if your laptop got an AMD processor, you would need BIOS version F.26 which can be downloaded from here.

How to Extract the BIOS Without Running the Installer:

If you are running Windows 10 or Windows 11, the old software package may throw an OS compatibility block and refuse to extract its contents. You can manually strip the raw files to put them on a recovery flash drive:

  1. Download and install a free file archiver like 7-Zip.
  2. Right-click the downloaded sp64612.exe or sp66805.exe file.
  3. Hover over 7-Zip and choose Extract to "[SoftPaq Number]".
  4. Open the newly created folder to access the raw flash utilities and the .bin or .fd firmware image file directly.

If the installer application throws an error code when you click it, please let me know:

  • What exact error message or prompt pops up?
  • Are you doing this to revive a bricked laptop or just running routine updates?

I can provide the exact file renaming scheme required to make an older HP motherboard read the BIOS file directly from a USB stick.

Kind Regards,
