Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hy

Quick question, i have hp 15-bc001nm gaming pavilion. Im on F.38 Rev.A bios, everything is super. After runing whichever game, the fans start to spin probably to its maximum, which is great. I get cpu 77C at a 100% cpu usage and 66C at gpu 100% usage.

After ending the game, i leave my laptop turned on and cpu temp gets to arounf 25C - 35C, fans slow down, but not as they where before starting the game, CPU temp even comes at 25C but fans are stil spinnig.

So i  flashed the bios again F.38 Rev.A. and the fans after entering windows 10 are super quiet/not running.

So i repeat, start game, fan always spining, i can leave the laptop turned on for 2 days and it wont stop.

Again bios update, the fans are quiet/no spining, I decide not to run the games, because i do other office/googling/youtube..... for 3 days im using laptop for it can be said OFFICE USE.  Everything is super.

Now I run the game, BAAM fan always on and spinnig.

WHY?

Thank you for answering.

Hi @Slivko,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I understand you are having issues with the fan spinning while playing games on your HP notebook. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?

Have you tried to update the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers on your PC?

Has it worked before while playing these games?

Are you playing these games while having the AC Adapter connected or Battery connected?

Fan are always spinning as they are system managed and as long as you don't have any issues with them making loud noise or the temperature getting above 45 C or the system shuts down due to overheating, then you need to worry as this could be a possible hardware failure.

I would like to inform you that when you play games on the computer they usually need more power and it is always recommended to keep the charger connected. The performance of the computer usually drops when playing games on the battery as the battery will not able to supply the required power for the games.

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

In the meantime, you may try the below steps, as even if the game is compatible with your system hardware it may have a slow performance because you are using the windows 8, 8.1 or 10 as the OS uses most of the CPU & graphics card usage, you might want to reduce the visual effects for windows to save the amount of CPU & Graphics card usage required to run your game properly.

 Here's how you do it:

·        Go to Start Menu > click on Settings.

·        Type performance > choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.

·        In the new window, go to the Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance.

·         click Apply and ok...this should do the trick.

If you don't like the way windows looks after the above step, you might want to consider upgrading your RAM (Memory card)

Then try playing different games and check. If it still does not work, try playing the game at a reduced frame rate and check.

  • Please uninstall the ACPI battery drivers from device manager.
  • Reset all power plans to factory defaults and then select high-performance option power from power options from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04752217
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphic drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers and follow the on-screen instructions.

This should do the trick for you.

Hope this helps.   I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always.

I have not made any changes before this was an issue, i did change the thermal paste with artic silver 5.
Bios is up to date, chipset and also graphic cards, both of them.
Its always on AC, because as you mentioned in the post belove it does not give a good performance otherwise.

Thats the only issue i have is the noise, i work in a quite room and the fans get into your head 😄
The temperature is from 30C to 40C while doing office work. Without fan spinnig.
But when they spin the temperature goes to 25C or less, while doing office work.

I did use the option for the best performance, but fans are still spinnig.
I have 16gb of ram, so i think its enought for my usage.

I have tried all the steps, unistalling drivers ACPI, graphics, reseting power plans and flashing new bios.
The problem still persist. I think its a bios problem, because before i run windows the fans start spinning.

If I flash the bios and the fans are on very low or no rpm, I go to windows and everything is perfect. When i restart
and go to bios, the fans are still in the perfect low or no RPM. And a can leave laptop in bios for 2 hours and they wont
start spinning to much.
But after starting the game, no matter in which sistem the laptop is, the fans are spinning on higher RPM, even though the temperature is around 30C.

So I think, just think it may be some bios stuff :D, when it reaches temperature around 70C or more, the fans wont stop spinning, below some point
like they wont stop or wont go below 30% RPM.

Please help i need some quiet time while working, i know i can use the headphones, but then i wont hear my child in the back :).

Hi @Slivko,

As I understand you have already tried updating the drivers, as well as running the test and all seems to be working, I would personally suggest this could be a hardware failure. I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for further assistance.

I very appriciate your efford, but HP support is not much a help. I ve taken it to the Hungary for repairs and what they did is they replaced the fans. But the problem still persist.

So after all the talking and writing, i might or i can say a have a defective unit and in waranty but no one can or will fix it. Even tough its still in waranty.

So now i have very load laptop and no one can do anything about it. Thanks HP for that.

Yesterday I left it outside all night, temp were 15C, all cores, but fans are still going and going.

Thanks for nothing. Hp make bios open for manual fan control. That would solve the problem.

Meanwhile i installed program called Notebook Fancontrol and what i found out is that, after the CPU fan reaches 50% of RPM it wont go any lower then 40%.  And i dont have to run any games or whatever, just cranked my CPU fan to 50% and the lowest it gets is 40% no matter the CPU temp or if i run anything on the laptop.

So i think it is really a hardware issue probably some chip on the motherborad. 😄
