OMEN Laptop 15-en1003nx
Microsoft Windows 11

HI, So I have bought this laptop 3 years ago with not problems. But recently after turning on my laptop again after use my laptop wasn't able to detect my gpu (rtx 3060). I looked in task manager and in device manager to not seeing it at all, but it was visible in device manager under "show hidden devices" I tried to solve the problem by  surfing the web and watching videos but could not find a solution. So is my gpu fried? and if yes how do I get it repaired?

Oh and I did try Setting<recovery<fix problems using windows update   this did not help either.

Hi @kash3w,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Omen 15 laptop is not recognizing the GPU (RTX 3060) and it only shows up as a hidden device in Device Manager, there are a few steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue. Here’s a comprehensive guide:

Initial Troubleshooting Steps

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, Delete, or Esc during startup).
  • Ensure that the discrete GPU (RTX 3060) is enabled.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

  • Visit the HP support website, find the latest BIOS update for your HP Omen 15, and follow the instructions to update the BIOS.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that the laptop is adequately cooled. Overheating can cause hardware components to malfunction.
  • Check for any physical damage or loose connections if you are comfortable opening the laptop. Note that this may void your warranty if it is still active.

Software and Driver Troubleshooting

Update or Roll Back Drivers:

  • Update Drivers:
    • Go to the NVIDIA website and download the latest drivers for the RTX 3060.
    • Install the drivers and restart your laptop.
  • Roll Back Drivers:
    • In Device Manager, find the hidden GPU, right-click it, and select "Properties".
    • Go to the "Driver" tab and select "Roll Back Driver" if available.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • Completely uninstall the current NVIDIA drivers:
    • Use a tool like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove all traces of the old drivers.
    • Reboot your laptop.
    • Install the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date by checking for updates in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
