HP Pavilion 17-g131na 17.3 inch Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer started making a noise and  after some time it got slow and even shut automatically.

Using F2 reboot I found that the Hard drive test failed

Failure ID: GUTUH9-80CALB-MFPX6J-60RW03

I bought this 4 years ago so the guarantee has expired; what is the best way ahead?

You're very welcome.

It's hard to say what the loose object might be.

Once you remove the bottom cover, perhaps the part will fall out, and you will be able to see what it is.

It could just be an excess piece of plastic.

Be careful so you can watch for it.

Hi:

Below is the failure report generated by the code you posted, minus your notebook's serial number.

You will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

After you replace the drive, you can reinstall W10 for free by making bootable installation media using the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

thank you both for the excellent and very informative replies.

When I handle the laptop I also hear a small noise within as if a small object is loose and moves around.

Is this compatible with Hard Drive issue or it is something different, you think?

Thanks,
