Does Windows XP "see" the hard drive during installation? It seems you are saying it does on which case it is not likely the cable but the drive itself.

Huffer one more last question please tell me that how to format that hard drive

HP Recommended

You can format it during Windows XP installation. If you delete all partitions and then recreate them during XP installation you have formatted the drive. Depending on the brand of the hard drive you might be able to download a bootable disk that will perform a more thorough "low level" format. WD has such a tool available for download for WD drives only and it also has advanced diagnostics to tell you if the hard drive is really bad.
