Yes it can be fixed. We may just need to load Windows on it a different way.

Yes I would say a new hard drive will allow installation of Windows. Post back if you need help. Where do you live (country)?

Sweden.

Here's the Manual:

Manual

See p. 36 for "how to". This is not an easy procedure. It requires removal of quite a few screws and the top cover.

hey

if i only change the hard drive then i can just take the top cover (with keybord) of and then take the old hard drive out and then put the new in.

and put everything back together as it was before.

?

That's pretty much it. You do have to somehow get software onto the new drive, which will be blank. We can help with that, too.

hey

i have download windows ios 8.1 i think and i have it on the usb flash drive, so i can put the flash drive in when i reboot the laptop.

??

i should work right ?

HP Recommended

Yes assuming it is the right version of Windows 8.1 and the laptop came with 8.1 not 8. If not you have to install 8 and upgrade to 8.1...when and how did you download it?

HP Recommended
Recently. It's 8.1 and 64 version

It is certainly worth a try. Is it made from the HP backup and recovery program or did you download it right from Microsoft?
