Hello, since some time the temp of the cpu (AMD-8, 4 cores) of my HP Pavilion 15-p051nd laptop becomes more than 90 degrees C although I don't run massive programs.
In nearly idle cpu-state the temp does not lower below 55 degrees C. It's all too high. Starting a browser the temperature-protection switchs the laptop off.
I cleaned the airflow-access. Choosing a low-power-scheme does not help. What to do?

Which AMD A8 processor? There are many that are specific to the A8 series.
I lived in the Netherlands and usually had temps @ 30-35C for idle and perhaps 70C when using programs that really put the Intel Core i5 in my Spectre x360 - 13-ap0xx to work. (i.e. Benchmark programs)
You should probably consider having the thermal paste removed and new paste applied.
I remember dust being a bit of an issue there because of the agriculture, so interior cleaning is probably due if your notebook is more than a year old.

Erico, it's a AMD A8-6410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics with a max operating temp of 90 degr. C.
I fear the replacing of thermal paste, having seen the case-disclosure on youtube. But problaby it is the only solution.

Hi @Corneille1
Dankjewel.
You can have it done at a laptop shop. The technicians at the Laptop/PC shops in the Netherlands are professionals.
You will know it is done correctly if you see the temps drop drastically even when running a bench test.

The high temperature was due to the dust inside the laptop. I also checked the cooling paste between the cpu and the cooling plate but that was in good condition. And that for a laptop 7 years old !
Once cleaned the CPU-temperature is reduced to normal values.

So my first post was accurate.
Thermal paste does lose its original cooling capabilities over time.
Replacing the thermal paste with something on the order of on of Arctic Silver's product will bring the CPU temperature down even farther.
