Welcome to our HP User Forum!
To figure out the maximum RAM speed your HP 255 G8 Notebook PC (347S4AV) allows, you have to Google your processor online.
For example, looking at your laptop's specs here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06955650#AbT2, your laptop could be fitted with the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U. Google this, and this link is one of the search options offered: https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/amd-ryzen-5-pro-3500u, which provides the answer: "System Memory Specification: Up to 2400 MHz":
Your laptop can be fitted with up to 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks. You could use higher RAM speed sticks (2666 MHz, 3200 MHz), but they will be down throttled to 2400 MHz.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,

My bad, but I did say, quote: "for example" -based on the best available info -or so I thought, I had at the moment. So, all right, then, here you go: AMD Ryzen™ 5 5500U | AMD: "System Memory Type: DDR4 - Up to 3200 MHz LPDDR4 - Up to 4266 MHz *".
* [DISCLAIMER:] AMD's claim: "LPDDR4 - Up to 4266 MHz", is not confirmed by HP. HP specs say that 3200 MHz is the maximum RAM speed allowed for the HP 255 G8 Notebook PC:
Link: HP 255 G8 Notebook PC. Maximum RAM is, actually, 2 x 16GB.
