Hello, I have a Dell Monitor connected to my HP laptop. I am having issues with internet dropouts all the time. Dell Support notice states I need to Disable in the BIOS. I am unable to determine what in the BIOS I need to change as its not spelled out as below. Looking for directions/video on how I can change the BIOS to achieve this below action?
- BIOS setting for "Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock" is Disabled or unchecked. Disabled or unchecked should mean that the computer is using High Data.
Non-Dell BIOS settings resolution: Note:
- If using an HP computer, ensure that the BIOS setting for "Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock" is Disabled or unchecked. Disabled or unchecked should mean that the computer is using High Data.

Hi @JLMCZ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding disabling "High Resolution Mode when connected to a USB-C dock" in the BIOS!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Enter the BIOS Setup Utility:
- Turn on or restart your HP laptop.
- As soon as the computer starts, repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup utility. If F10 doesn't work, try pressing Esc and then select the option to enter the BIOS setup.
Navigating the BIOS:
- Use the arrow keys to navigate through the BIOS menus.
Locate System Options:
- Go to the Advanced tab using the arrow keys.
- Select System Options or Built-In Device Options (the exact naming may vary depending on your HP model).
Disable High Resolution Mode:
- Look for an option such as "Enable High Resolution Mode when connected to a USB-C® alt mode dock."
- Change this setting to Disabled. Usually, you can press the Enter key to select and change the setting.
Save and Exit:
- After making the changes, press the F10 key to save your settings and exit the BIOS.
- Confirm any prompts to save your changes.
Restart Your Laptop:
- Allow your laptop to restart and boot normally into the operating system.
After changing the BIOS settings, ensure that your Dell monitor is connected properly. If you continue to experience internet dropouts, consider checking the following:
- Update Drivers: Ensure that all drivers, including the network and graphics drivers, are up to date.
- Check Connections: Verify that all cables are securely connected and not damaged.
- Network Settings: Make sure your network settings are correctly configured for your home or office setup.
I hope this helps.
