HP Elitebook 865 G9

I have debris stuck under my left shift key preventing it from pressing down sometimes. All the maintenance manual says on page 80 is that the top cover/keyboard remains after removing all other components. I don't really want to have to take apart everything else first, and it doesn't actually say how to get dust out from under the keys as far as i can tell.

Well, please try to use a can of compressed air and blow underneath the key.

Hope that works

Regards.

Compressed Air was the first, second and third thing I tried (including holding the laptop upsidedown). At this point looks like I'll have to live with it.

I did see some tutorial on Youtube to remove the key but it was for an Envy and posted four years ago. I don't know if this keyboard uses the same switch or whatever.

Out of boredom I played around pressing it and feeling it. While pressing the right bottom corner of the Shift key down, I heard a *click*. Shift key is fixed. Whatever debris was there probably did get flung out by compressed air before I made the OP.

Solved! Technically this doesn't explain to anyone how to actually remove the key if they need to but "use compressed air and then press hard on the corner of the key" worked for me.
