Hi @Blesyn,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to set up the keyboard backlight on your HP ENVY 34, you can follow these steps:
Using the Keyboard Shortcut
- Locate the Backlight Key: Look for the key with a backlight icon on your keyboard, usually represented by an illumination icon (such as a sun or a light bulb) and typically found on one of the function keys (F5, F4, F3, or F2).
- Toggle the Backlight: Press the backlight key. You may need to press the Fn (Function) key simultaneously with the backlight key if it is combined with a function key.
Using HP Command Center (if available)
- Open HP Command Center: Press the Windows key and type "HP Command Center" and open the app.
- Locate Keyboard Settings: Look for the keyboard backlight settings within the HP Command Center. You can usually find options to adjust the brightness and set the backlight timeout.
Using HP System Event Utility
- Download and Install: If you don't already have it, download and install the HP System Event Utility from the HP Support website.
- Enable Backlight: After installation, you should be able to use the keyboard shortcuts mentioned above to enable and control the backlight.
Adjusting Settings in BIOS (if necessary)
- Restart Your Computer: Restart your HP ENVY 34 and press the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- Navigate to Advanced Settings: Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Advanced" tab or a similar section.
- Find Backlight Settings: Look for keyboard backlight settings and adjust them as needed. This may include setting the backlight timeout duration or enabling the backlight feature.
- Save and Exit: Press F10 to save your changes and exit the BIOS setup.
