hello everyone, i am having some overheating troubles with my laptop, it's a hp omen 16 of the 16-n0xxx series.
basically whenever i play a game the pc launches all cores of the cpu to boost mode, even if not needed. even if i try to change the maximum frequency of the cpu from the power settings (example: max frequency at 3700Hz), the moment i start a game it gets overwritten and ignores it, launching it at max freq (4200Hz) even when no needed, and for this reason i find my cpu with every core at 2-5% usage but cpu temp at 95°C.
i then managed to completely turn off the boost mode, and temperature jumped from 95°C to 70°C. problem is, i can't keep boost active and regulate max frequency because the hp omen hub overwrites whatever setting i have placed, but i still want to keep it on for that performance boost.
so, is there a way to just shut down the performance profiles of hp omen hub?

Hi @t1renda,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
The HP OMEN Gaming Hub can sometimes override your manual settings for performance and cooling. If you want to disable the performance profiles but keep the application running for other features, here are steps to manage it:
Step 1: Disable Performance Profiles in OMEN Gaming Hub
Open OMEN Gaming Hub:
- Launch the OMEN Gaming Hub application.
Navigate to Performance Control:
- Go to the "Performance Control" section.
Set Custom Settings:
- In Performance Control, look for an option to customize or turn off specific profiles. You might need to create a custom profile that disables automatic performance adjustments.
Step 2: Manage OMEN Gaming Hub Services
If you cannot disable profiles directly through the application, you can manage the services related to OMEN Gaming Hub.
Open Services:
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter to open the Services window.
Find OMEN Gaming Hub Services:
- Look for services related to OMEN Gaming Hub, such as OMEN Command Center or similar.
Set Services to Manual or Disable:
- Right-click the service, select Properties, and set the Startup type to Manual or Disabled. This will prevent the service from automatically adjusting settings.
Step 3: Use Windows Power Settings
To manage power and performance settings manually, use Windows Power Options:
Open Power Options:
- Right-click on the battery icon in the taskbar and select Power Options.
Create a Custom Power Plan:
- Select Create a power plan and choose High Performance as the base.
- Name the plan and adjust the settings according to your needs.
Advanced Power Settings:
- Click on Change plan settings for your custom plan, then Change Advanced power settings.
- Adjust processor power management settings, such as minimum and maximum processor state.
Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @t1renda,
Please find the next set of steps below.
Step 4: Adjust BIOS Settings
Some performance settings can be managed directly in the BIOS:
Enter BIOS Setup:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 (or the key specified for your HP model) to enter the BIOS setup.
Navigate to Performance Settings:
- Look for settings related to power management, thermal settings, or CPU performance.
Adjust Settings:
- Make any necessary adjustments to disable automatic performance boosting.
Step 5: Monitor and Test
Test Settings:
- After making changes, monitor your laptop's performance and temperature to ensure it is operating as desired.
Use Third-Party Software:
- Consider using third-party software like MSI Afterburner, ThrottleStop, or Intel XTU to fine-tune your CPU and GPU settings independently of OMEN Gaming Hub.
By following these steps, you should be able to disable or manage the performance profiles of the HP OMEN Gaming Hub while retaining other features of the application. If you continue to face issues, consider reaching out to HP phone support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
