Hi, @Historyman7

The i5-480M processor is not listed as a supported processor.

I guess the only way you are going to know if it works or not, would be to install it and see what happens.

Here is a side by side comparison of the supported i5-520M processor and the i5-480M.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, but that is just my opinion.

The thing going against you is that none of the BIOS updates added support for different processors.

Look under the BIOS revision history.

@Historyman7

There is no Intel i5 480m on the following list

but I believe it is ok because it is on a same family.

Regards.

Thanks dear friends for help. I would have another question. Will my laptop be able to cool down CPU Intel i7 640m? Is it not  too strong for my laptop? thanks a lot

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

There isn't a different fan/heatsink part for the i7 and the wattage is the same as the i5.

See the comparison chart with the 640 added...

It should work just fine.

Thank you very much, I would have another question. Is there a possibility to improve my graphics card? ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6370

You're very welcome.

No, your notebook has the best graphics configuration that was available at the time.

The graphics are all part of the motherboard.  There are no removable graphics cards to upgrade.

Thank you, my friend, you've helped me a lot. Just another little question. Is it possible to connect an external GPU, via the ExpressCard / 34 slot, and will it work? in your opinion. 🙂

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Unfortunately, I don't know a thing about external GPU's or how they work, or if you can run one from your model notebook.

You may want to start a new post on that unless Banhien knows the answer.
