Hi:

Yes, I would get the fastest speed you can, because even with a fast SSD, and 8 GB of memory, the performance will be marginal at best.

I believe that all 2.5" SSD's are 7.0mm in thickness.

I have the HP 255 G7 notebook with the A4 processor, SSD and 8 GB of memory and I don't like the performance at all.

It is the business class model of the 15-db0000 model series.

Mine came with the M.2 drive from HP, and I don't know how fast the read/write speed is because I have not tested it.

But I doubt it is the fastest one you can get.

As far as installing it yourself...take a look at the videos and decide if you want to try it.  It is not very easy to do.

Your notebook's processor is not supported for W11.   Needs to have a Ryzen 2xxx processor or newer.

So, you would have to manually install W11 (the upgrade from Windows Update will never be available), and run the notebook in an 'unsupported state.'

Unsupported Windows 11 PCs will get cumulative updates, at least for now (windowslatest.com)

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.

Your notebook has one memory slot, and the max memory the slot can take is 1 x 8 GB.

To upgrade the memory, you would need to remove the 4 GB memory chip and replace it with an 8 GB memory chip.

This would be a compatible 8 GB memory chip for your notebook...

If you plan to upgrade the memory, you may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 500 GB 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

You're very welcome.

This would be the compatible 2.5" 500 GB SSD you would want...

Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD | CT500MX500SSD1 | C...

But I think you can buy a slightly faster SSD with the same warranty, and it costs several euros less...

This is what I use in my PC's...

Western Digital WD Blue 3D NAND Internal SSD Hard Drive, Blue 500gb: Amazon.de: Computer & Accessori...

This memory chip would be fine.  3200 MHz is overkill.

The memory is only going to run at 1866 MHz anyway.  That is the fastest speed your notebook's processor can run the memory at.

The cheapest drive Crucial offers is the BX model, which has a slower read/write speed than the MX model...

Yes, that one should also be fine.

For a few Euros more, I have this one...a little faster than the one you have in the g4.
