Hi,

First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.

Windows 7

Check if the drive will now play DVDs.

If it still doesn't work, click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.

sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )

Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.

Next, click the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager.  Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.

Thank you so much for answering my  post.

I did the steps you said but they didn´t work.

I tried with Fix-it from Microsoft, but it didn´t work.

Here is the final report http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/Portal/fixit/details/200/dc8c11fb-7a65-4679-868f-d4853c83e9...

I did the Comand Pront as Administrator and run the check and then I unistalled and reinstalled de driver but I´m still having the same problem.

If you have any solution left I will be very thankful

Hi,

Try following the procedure under the sub-heading 'Let me fix it myself' on the link below to remove the Upper and Lower filters and see if this helps the issue.

Hi. I've got exactly the same problem with my hp dvdwbd ts-lb23l (not recognising DVDs). I've tried all the fixes mentioned to no avail, bar the last one, as I cannot see the correct route through the MS Support menu from the 'Find it myself' starting point. Any help here would be gratefully received.

Hey MalBond,

I understand you are having an issue with HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc movies.

I have given a document on some settings on HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc movies

Hi.

Thanks for this suggestion, however, I fell at the first post with it !

On my machine, there is no 'DVD Play BD & HD DVD' program showing in the 'All Programs' listing. I also checked via the route Control Panel->Programs->Programs & Features. The only potentially relevant programs I can find are 'CyberLink DVD Suite' and 'HP MediaSmart DVD'.

Is it possible that the 'DVD Play BD & HD DVD'has been deleted or corrupted in some way ? I certainly haven't knowingly deleted it ! I'd be grateful for any further thoughts/suggestions.

Kind rgds.
