pavilion 15-cs2000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hello.

BIOS version - F.16

windows 10 v1909 64-bit (10.0.18363)

error in device Manager - unknown USB device device descriptor request failed

webcam missing from the list of installed devices.

on the support page missing drivers for the webcam.

deleting a device in task Manager does not solve the problem - the unknown device is displayed again.

the properties indicate that the last device instance code - USB \VID04CA&PID_707F\

is this a software or hardware problem?

what is the correct webcam driver for my laptop?

what can I do with the software? or the laptop needs to be handed over to the service to eliminate mechanical damage?

@AntK Here's what you need to do, if the webcam driver is not displayed in the Device Manager.

To resolve this problem, use the following steps.

  1. Restart your computer.

If the problem persists, continue using these steps.

  2. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  3. If there is no Imaging devices category listed, select Action, then Scan for hardware changes.

    Image: Scan for hardware changes

  4. If Device Manager does not recognize the webcam after the scan, use Microsoft System Restore to go back to a time when the webcam was working properly.

If problems persist, the webcam might have become unplugged internally, and the computer might require service to correct the issue.

Also, the only driver available for the webcam is this: click here to download

Thank you for your response. The specified problem occurred a couple of months ago and during this time I repeatedly overloaded the laptop, many times deleted the device in the task Manager that is installed with an error. I tried to update the driver, including the one you specified. Without result

I don 't remember when the camera stopped working, and I can 't get the Windows system back to that state.

My search for information on the Internet gave me information that the problem is still with the hardware, which you confirmed in your message. I'll have to take my laptop to the service.

I have a HP Envy x360.  I tried following all the directions posted on the various community forums on HP's support site and it's still not working.  I receive the same YouCam error message stating - camera not enabled.  Under my device manager, there is no longer a webcam drive installed under Imaging, but there is a drive under Sound, video and game controllers called "Cyberlink webcam virtual driver."   When I tried a Zoom session, the video and sound/microphone is not working.

Do I need to re-install a Webcam or USB driver to get it working?   If so, which one??  I see that the Youcam software is still installed on my computer, but when I open it, it doesn't allow me to go into its settings either.  Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Hello,

I tried your suggestions below, and in the windows update, there was this:

Hewlett-Packard - USB - 2/10/2017 12:00:00 AM - 40.11.1108.1741

Download size: 31.3 MB

I tried to download it and it said it was unsuccessful.  Also, after some further investigation, it appears that the Realtek Camera driver is not listed in device manager anymore.  When I go to add legacy hardware, I can see it, but it won't let me add it back.  I am running on a windows 8 operating system.   What else can I do, to get this working again without doing a system restore?

Thanks!!

@Bluey2

At this point I suggest you perform a System Recovery

- Turn off the computer.Disconnect all connected devices and cables such as Personal Media Drives, USB drives, printers, and faxes.
- Turn on the computer and repeatedly press the F11 key about once every second until the Choose an option screen is displayed, and then continue.
- On the Choose an Option screen, click Troubleshoot.
- On the Troubleshoot screen, click Recovery Manager.
- Under Help, click System Recovery.
- When Recovery Manager prompts you to back up your files, select a backup option:
- The Welcome to HP Recovery Manager screen is displayed. Read the on-screen information, and then disconnect any connected devices and cables, such as Personal Media Drives, USB drives, printers, and faxes.
- Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware.
- Click Next to continue.
- When recovery preparation is complete, click Continue to proceed to the installation phase of the recovery process. The computer restarts several times during the recovery. This is normal. Do not close, shut down, or disconnect the computer while HP Recovery runs.
- Recovery Manager reformats the Windows partition and reinstalls the original software.
- After the system recovery is complete, click Finish to restart the computer. Complete the setup screens and wait until the computer finishes the setup.
- Once the setup is complete, turn off the computer, reconnect all devices and cables, and then turn on the computer.
- Before using the computer, update and protect your computer by reinstalling any virus and security software that was installed before the system recovery.
- Reinstall any software programs that were added after purchasing the computer, as well as any files that were backed up.

Before I did a system restore, I went back to the retailer where we purchased this laptop and they accessed our computer remotely (I initially called HP support, but they wouldn't transfer me to a technical support rep since our warranty expired.  They said we have a hardware corruption as there was no record of webcam drivers installed.  Basically I guess we would have to bring it in to be repaired once the store reopens.  If you look in System Information under software, it shows this: USB Video Device (WDM) c:\windows\system32\drivers\usbvideo.sys Kernel Driver Started: No Start Mode: Manual State: Stopped.

This is not anywhere under device manager.  They also told me that the microphone and webcam go hand in hand and that is why our microphone isn't working either.  I also at one point found the realtek camera driver in device manager, but I couldn't install it and now it is nowhere to be found. I'm hesitate to do a restore and I'm afraid to lose info.

@Bluey2

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
