hp pavilion g106nl cpu upgrade

Hello there I own a Pavilion g106nl which has been working great since 2016 when I bought it.
It turns out it won't support Windows 11 so I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade the CPU to one of the models supported by Windows 11.

Currently it has a Intel® Core™ i7-5500U with Intel HD Graphics 5500 (2.4 GHz, 4 MB cache, 2 cores).

I'm wondering if it'll support one of these:

Hi:

Unfortunately, that would not be possible.

The CPU is an integral part of the motherboard, and there are no motherboards that would fit your PC that come with the Intel 8th gen core processors.

This does not necessarily mean you can't install W11 on your PC, but you would have to perform a clean install and reinstall all of your programs and files.

If you want to see if W11 works on your PC, you can make a bootable W11 USB installer from the link below.

If for some reason, W11 does not work correctly on your PC, you can reinstall W10.

I currently have W11 clean installed on two PC's that I have, that do not meet the requirements for the W11 upgrade and they both work fine on W11 so far.

I used the free Macrium Reflect software to make system images of the W10 installation before I installed W11.

You may want to do the same. 

Make a system image using Macrium reflect, and if W11 doesn't work right, you can easily go back to your current W10 installation.

You save the image on a portable hard drive and the software will have you make a bootable USB flash drive or DVD you boot from to access the system image stored on the portable hard drive.

I confirm that by doing a clean install with a DVD image I was able to install Windows 11, no questions asked,

It's even activate as "Home", I wonder if it has anything to do with the Windows license supposedly hard coded in the BIOS of my Pavilion (so I heard).

Glad to have been of assistance, and thanks for letting us know that you were able to install W11 with no problem.

W11 is supposed to activate as long as the PC came with or had bee previously upgraded to W10.

For example:  My HP 8200 Elite business desktop PC came with Windows 7 and has no product key in the BIOS. 

It did not meet any of the elevated W11 requirements except for having a UEFI BIOS

It came with the old Windows product key label on the case.

I took the free upgrade to W10 when it first came out, so when I clean installed W11 on the PC, it automatically activated.
