Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i got a newer laptop the hp ryzen 3 3250u pc. i backed up my files from the old 6475b probook and then put the HD into this pc, of course it would not boot but had to try. anyway i only have 2 usb ports and 1 usb-c port. i needed to run my win10 iso stick and so i put the usb extender 2.0 in 1 usb port and the pc would not see the backup HD  so that i could put my files back.

so what usb extender will work? will i have to get a new 3.0 unit?  i do have the hp port extender but the way i have the system setup it is very hard to use. so for now just finding one that i can plug into the open usb port so i can then have a couple extra ports will have to do.

in a few weeks i may get another win11 pc and then take the screen off one and then i may be able to use the hp extender but now the screen is in the way. i do not have lots of room at this table it sets next to the dining room table and is 18x36" and the monitor takes up a big share of that. thanks

"hp ryzen 3 3250u pc" is not the product name or the product number of an HP laptop.

When you do not identify your desktop or laptop PC, you tie our hands behind our backs. Help us to help you.

When logged into Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the R key once.
That will open the Windows run dialogue

Type in msinfo32 and press enter.

The ninth line is the SKU and the HP product number. Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.

The System SKU/Product ID will enable us to determine the hardware configuration of your notebook.

If you can't log into Windows, look on the bottom of your notebook for that information.

If you have a desktop look at the rear of your PC

What does "in a few weeks i may get another win11 pc and then take the screen off one and then i may be able to use the hp extender " mean?

Do you mean a USB adapter?

I have one like this

https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM/ref=asc_df_B00TPME...

I use the powered type so it won't damage the system board traces that are part of the USB circuit.

yes one like that.  by the way i did finally get the 2.0 unit to work for the mouse and the printer showed and it took forever but the thumb stick showed also but it would not show the HD and i think this pc just can't power it. i then took an ssd that came out of this pc a 120gb ssd and put that in the case plugged it in and it did work and i was able to put some folders on that ssd. so getting a powered hub would be the best answer. thanks i will jump on that now.

You are the king of run-on- sentences.

Run-on-sentences make it very difficult to convey your thoughts in an organized manner that is easily understandable.

Yw.

so what do you want bullet points?

most do not have any issues

you seem to have issues

this site is about the worst to get any questions answered

toms guide works way better

win10 also seems to know more than this site.

so is this any better for you personally?  some on this site seem to be able to navigate my question real well

I am not trying to upset you.

It is just far easier to troubleshoot an issue when punctuation is used and sentences are used to convey thoughts in an organized manner.

"some on this site seem to be able to navigate my question real well"

Are "some" on this site trying to help you?  I do not see any other replies to your thread than my own.

I can stop replying so "some" can help you.
