hp laptop 15-dy2xxx

i have an HP USB-C G5 PN: 5tw10ut#aba  that i am trying to connect to a HP Laptop 15-dy2xxx less than a year old with Windows 11 OS

1)  i have verified that the setup  I have works correctly with another HP laptop.  Single monitor, HDMI cable connected to HP USB-C G5.  When i connect the laptop to the USB-C G5, the monitor does not come on and it does not begin to charge.

2)   I have downloaded all of the drivers for the USB-c G5 and run them.

3)  I have powered the computer down, removed all devices, held power button for 30 seconds, powered back up and reconnected but still does not work.

4)  I have verified that the monitor will plug directly into the monitor and work.

ANY IDEAS I MIGHT TRY?

What is your hp laptop 15-dy2xxx  machine ? It should have same ports as the following machine

                         HP Laptop 15-dy2702dx

Its USB-C port in ONLY a SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

In short it is NOT compatible with USB-C G5 dock.

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

Regards.
