hp 15 db0018ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i opened up my laptop to add a nvme ssd and to upgrade my hdd to a 1 tb ssd after my year warrenty ran out.  however i wouldnt have found this issue without opening my laptop and voiding my warrenty anyway.  According to the manual this is supposed to be possible. However the nvme m style key connector is not on the motherboard. The space and screw and set up is all there except for the connector itself. The motherboard is set up and able to take the m style key connector and as far as the manual says it should be there, yet its not. i will include a picture. the only solution hp has offered for the issue is an upgrade or replacement of my motherboard at my expense even though the product i bought for this purpose and was told is capable of it, simply isn't. Best buy the place i bought this from has offered to replace the laptop however nothing that they have in stalk can take a 500gb nvme and a 1tb ssd at the same price range. therefor they say i need to pay $250.00 for the exchange to the capable laptop. I paid to have this capability already. I feel i'm getting scammed after 11 representatives and 3 hours total on hp phone service to get absolutely nowhere. hp 15-db0018ca nvme 1.jpghp 15-db0018ca nvme 2.jpg  someone make sense of this shenanigans...

Your machine has SINGLE hard drive storage option therefore it does NOT have M.2 slot for storage. You need following parts

Solid-state drive bracket part # L20458-001
Solid-state drive connector board part # L22542-001
Solid-state drive cable part # L20456-001

Before you can add M.2 SSD to your machine.

>>> According to the manual this is supposed to be possible. However the nvme m style key connector is not on the motherboard

The manual is for the whole series (from 15-db0000aa to 15-db0999zz), not just for your specisl model/product.

In the pictures i provided you can see where the nvme is supposed to be according to the manufacturers. if i use the brackets etc you suggest it still tries to use the sata 3 interface to replace my hdd. i want to run an hdd for storage and nvme for boot drive and speed. If the manual contradicts the manufacturers specs and the products are sold under the false pretenses that it has these capabilities, is that not false advertisement? i was told when buying this laptop it had the capability of supporting both. Samsung, crucial and hp have a list of upgrades that pop up when typing in a product number. all 3 state i can have both an nvme and a hdd. i believe someone at hp customer services needs to look at the pictures i have provided.

I DID say, manual is for the whole series from hp 15-db0000aa to hp15-db0999zz as shown

With thousands of configurations, combinations, options ... for thousands of different models/products and your machine is only one model/product of many.

I think the problem was: you did not read the manual properly.

Again, I think you talked with a wrong advisor.
