Hi @farrlarr,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If the HP Support Assistant continues to indicate that your HP Laptop PC 15s-Fq2000 (2D118AV) battery needs calibration even after you've calibrated it, there might be a few steps you can take to address this issue:
Steps to Recalibrate the Battery
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Make sure your laptop's BIOS and battery drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest versions from the HP Support website.
Perform a Battery Calibration Manually:
- Charge the Battery Fully: Plug in your laptop and charge the battery to 100%.
- Let the Battery Rest: Once fully charged, let the battery rest for about 2 hours while still plugged in.
- Drain the Battery: Disconnect the power adapter and use your laptop normally until the battery is completely drained and the laptop shuts down.
- Charge the Battery Again: Without turning on the laptop, plug in the power adapter and charge the battery to 100% again.
- Reboot and Check: After fully charging, boot up your laptop and check the battery status in HP Support Assistant.
Check HP Support Assistant
Open HP Support Assistant:
- Open the HP Support Assistant from the Start menu or taskbar.
Run Battery Check:
- In the HP Support Assistant, go to the "My Devices" tab.
- Select your laptop and click on "Battery Check" under "Troubleshooting and fixes".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to check the battery status.
Additional Steps
Reset HP Support Assistant:
- Sometimes, HP Support Assistant might have cached information that needs to be reset. You can try uninstalling and reinstalling HP Support Assistant.
Battery Report in Windows:
- You can generate a battery report in Windows to get detailed information about the battery health.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
- The report will be saved as an HTML file. Open it to review the battery details and check if there are any discrepancies.
If you have tried the above steps and the issue persists, there might be a deeper issue with the battery, I recommend you contact phone support for service/replacement.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
