Hi @naveengongada,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Certainly! The Seagate ST1000LX015-1U7172-SSHD you mentioned is a 1TB hybrid drive, combining a traditional hard disk drive (HDD) with a small amount of solid-state storage for faster performance. If you want to upgrade to a full solid-state drive (SSD), you'll experience even faster speed and improved responsiveness.
For a compatible SSD upgrade, you'll need to consider the form factor and interface supported by your HP laptop. Most laptops use either a 2.5-inch SATA SSD or an M.2 SATA/NVMe SSD.
2.5-inch SATA SSD: If your laptop has a 2.5-inch drive bay, you can consider popular brands like Samsung, Crucial, Kingston, Western Digital, and Sandisk. Some specific models to consider are:
- Samsung 860 EVO or 870 EVO
- Crucial MX500 or MX550
- Kingston A2000
M.2 SATA/NVMe SSD: If your laptop supports M.2 form factor, you may opt for an M.2 SATA SSD or M.2 NVMe SSD, depending on your laptop's compatibility. Common choices include:
- Samsung 970 EVO or 980 EVO (NVMe)
- Western Digital Blue SN550 (NVMe)
- Crucial P5 (NVMe)
- Kingston A2000 (NVMe)
Before purchasing, make sure to check your laptop's documentation or specifications to determine which form factor and interface it supports (2.5-inch SATA, M.2 SATA, or M.2 NVMe). Additionally, consider the storage capacity based on your needs, as SSDs come in various sizes like 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and higher.
Remember to back up your data before performing the upgrade, and ensure that the new SSD is compatible with your laptop's specifications.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
