I found on ebay and amazon that sellers have bad reviews. i probably need to buy parts due to a failing battery not long after purchasing parts for the old laptop. i am in the process of resolving issues on the old laptop to transfer files to the new laptop. it is not a windows 11 laptop, but was purchased last year. i found that a lot of sellers have bad reviews. some sellers got reviews that the batteries did not charge, were the wrong parts, and sellers did not respond. some sellers lie about where they are located at, and i looked up the same part number, and am getting different size batteries listed. Also, I am noticing a notice on this website telling people to look at a different website as this site is moving or closing. However, the websites are for old systems and calculators. Where will we get support from now on for our systems? For instance, temporarily i will need support for the system i am in process of taking care of fixing to move stuff off of, and the other system i just purchased in August. It should still have some sort of manufacturer's warranty, though the store itself may not have the same warranty.

Not really sure what you are asking. Do you need to find a battery for your laptop? I'm also confused by your question about warranties. Seems you have an old HP laptop and a new HP laptop. The new one likely has a 1 year warranty or perhaps more depending on if you purchased extended coverage or its a business model. If you need to harvest files off an old laptop the easiest way to do it is to remove the hard drive and connect it to the new laptop with an external adapter. Happy to try to answer any more specific questions. Yes there are good and bad parts vendors on eBay and that's why the feedback system is so valuable. I would much rather buy than sell on eBay as buyers are fairly well protected if you take certain precautions like not paying with a money order.

i probably need to buy a new battery and possibly a new adapter. i get a warning at boot that the battery is failing, and hp support assistant says the adapter blew a fuse. it will charge intermittently, as well as the battery will discharge while the adapter is plugged in. i know my laptop has had signs of hacking that looks like somebody uses multiple programs (probably undetected viruses) to do it. i have things that are not backed up and i need to transfer apple licensed music to the other computer and my phone. i am hesitant to just back it up without resolving the issue since it cannot be detected yet. i do not want to copy any malicious software onto backup media. Also, i do not have an hard drive encasing. Anyways, i want to find a reliable seller, and it seems difficult.

the other question seems like potentially what is moving may be only for calculators and not for computers. Please let me know if you know anything about this.

Yes the issues with calculators do not affect computers. If this Forum is going away they have not told me yet, but I am always the last to know. If you are getting the blown fuse message yes the battery needs replacement. We can help with a Manual (if its not too old) and links to batteries you might want to consider. If you downloaded music from the Apple Store I believe you can re-download when you log into a new iTunes enabled device with the same Apple ID. Otherwise I would back it up to a separate hard drive and run a virus scan on it. Likely the files themselves are not infected; but the computer they sit on may have malicious programs that is why its best to just harvest off a hard drive that is not running an OS at the same time, after you run a scan on the hard drive. A usb laptop hard drive adapter can be purchased for less than $10 on amazon.

the  manual is actually at the previous thread that I linked to. I am concerned about amazon and eBay sellers being reliable. I am also concerned since the antivirus software has not detected anything so far, but clearly somebody bypasses the firewall and I can see multiple types of behaviors. These happen when the system is in airplane mode and in the login screen/sleep mode. So I think there could be hardware installed, but it may be software that modified programs or is not detected, or a combination of things. This is why I don’t want to transfer something that may have modified code in it. Regardless, I will have to find the right resource to purchase a battery and adapter. You may be correct regarding the fuse. However, I cannot run a battery diagnostic test since it does not detect the third party battery. Only at boot does it say the battery does not have full capacity. The adapter diagnostic says the adapter blew a fuse presumably, but some electronic equipment says the adapter is giving out complete voltage. Some sites say surge protectors do not work well, but I’ve seen problems with some outlets with this thing. I think it is because it is a third party brand for both the adapter and battery. But I saw how my Sony vaio lasted longer than this laptop and that was windows vista and this is windows 10.

Much to worry about yes
