Microsoft Windows 11

I'm planing to buy a laptop, but since those models are pretty new on the market, and most of customers buy a solution that fits them today, without thinking about future upgrade, there are practically no informations in shops or even in a official hp service

I've been looking these three models:
HP 17-cp0055nm
HP 17-BY4
HP 470 G8 - 439T6EA

I already need more than 16GB, preferably 32GB and have one question:
which is the max amount of RAM which can be installed in each model?

For HP 470 G8 - 439T6EA , here
https://support.hp.com/hr-en/document/c07148910
is written: max 16GB.
Is that amount of RAM with this laptop can be purchased or maximally upgraded?

I'm quite OK with the 17-cp0055nm, but there are no info about slots on it's motherboard, only
8 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM (2 x 4 GB)
It might be one, or even both soldered.

According to this https://youtu.be/hfiJJNDx99Q?t=98 in 470 G8 "probably" can be installed 2x16 or even 2x32 GB.

... but there is still no proof it is doable, and particularly is it safe.

Intel Core 7th gen and above with 2 memory slots can take 32 gigs. Ryzen based units with 2 slots can take 32 gigs. Intel Core 11th gen models with 2 slots can probably take 64 gigs. Safe is not really an issue. It either works or not. With HP laptops you want to stick with OEM-grade RAM no gaming or performance memory.  Having said that, very few users really need more than 16 gigs of memory but some who do content creation like photo editing on large files or batches, Code compiling and a few other memory intensive computing tasks can use all the memory they can get.

It is a laptop for my wife, who has at any moment 100-150 different Facebook and plenty of other tabs in opera opened (some of them constantly for weeks or months).
Besides, there are a lot of photos in photo editing programs waiting to be added somewhere.
etc.

She did pretty well with 16GB (14.5-15GB in use) in HP Probook 470 G2 with 5200U, till it's sudden (processor) death a few days ago, due no maintenance during 7 years (no dust cleaning nor thermal paste changing).

Occasionally Opera would crushed and she would lost some work in some tabs. Probably because of overburdening Opera or swapping problems on the 256GB SSD which was pretty full. But it mostly worked OK.

Anyway, to be sure, because internet content is every day larger, we thought of 32GB RAM as a logical step in the safer zone.

Obviously I'll have to buy a pair of 16GB modules, try by myself, and post here the result.

Any recommendation for some of these:
https://www-ekupi-hr.translate.goog/hr/Računala/Računala-i-periferija/Računalne-komponente/Memorijsk...

Would we get any benefit of faster frequency with more expensive 3200 MHz modules?

The Ryzen runs the memory at the full 3200 speed. The others will downclock it a bit even if you put in -3200 memory so you should duplicate the type of memory provided with the system. OEM....stock Crucial, Hynix, Samsung. For the uses you describe for your spouse, 16 gb would be plenty. It's a lot of memory and will support the most aggressive web browsing imaginable. The only time you need more is for professional work like running Photoshop preset actions on 35 large resolution images or compiling vast amounts of Code or transcoding video.

As I promised, I bought 2X16GB of RAM

Because of all what Huffer https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/13 wrote,
and because of the fact that in 470 G2, long time ago I installed 2 X 8 GB of Crucial RAM, and they served well, I bought this:

https://www-links-hr.translate.goog/hr/memorija-so-dimm-pc-25600-16-gb-crucial-ct16g4sfra32a-ddr4-32...

Thankfully to Banhien: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/18563

who sent me a data sheet, I read carefully a manual, worked with silicone gloves, easily opened laptop and installed memory.

It looks inside practically the same as 470 G8 from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfiJJNDx99Q&t=98s

Here is the photo of my laptop:

look inside.jpeg

After instalation, I entered BIOS and there was displayed 32GB of RAM

After entering Windows, there was displayed 32GB too.

Windows.jpg

I have tested memory with memtest64 for about an hour without errors.

memtest64 after 1hour.jpeg

Processor was at 100% of usage.
RAM, because I tested in Windows was at about 27.5GB

At the end, (for now) everything seems as normal.

Many thanks to everybody who was involved in this discussion.
Hopefully, this experience will help to somebody else too.

just upgraded my 5500U to 32GB  ram using crucial memory that auto adjusts from 3200mhz down to 2600mhz my HP17 came with a single stick of kingston 8gb ram which was a joke from HP but you can go to www.crucial.com use their memory finder and it gives you the Part # for this kit I bought mine from amazon for $139 paid Office depot $49 to install it and run the memory diagnostics on it Yeah my PC is still under warranty but Im not going to pay HP $700 for the same amount of ram + Labor But Yeah the max the PC can run in my case was 32gb SDRAMM
