Hello!

After a squalid nightmare of attempting to add a 2.5 ssd harddrive to my laptop as extra storage alongside my primary 250gb m.2 drive (turns out that due to the motherboard you are actually unable to run an m.2 drive and a 2.5 ssd drive at the same time , which took about 24 total hours over the course of a few days and about 10,000 trips to the BIOS to work out ((actually I didn't work it out at all, someone who fixes computers worked it out by reading the manual  (((I don't *really* get this stuff altho do a little bit))) )) ), I've resigned to just installing a larger m.2 drive, which is what I should have done in the first place. So gonna get a 1tb m.2 drive and install that.

My question is this... can that laptop run a 1tb m.2 drive? Don't want to spend more horrible hours trying bizzare key combinations to try and access the advanced menu in the bios, or doing endless, fruitless power resets etc etc. So just want to make sure it can run the drive before spending the money! If anybody knows that would be superb! x

Hi:

According to the product number you posted, you have a HP Notebook - 14-cm0011na.

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06090137

The notebook originally came with a 256 GB NVMe M.2 SSD, so you would want to install a 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD.

Below is the link to the service manual.

The supported drive capacities are just what HP offered in the model series.

If you want to install a 1 TB drive that should be fine.
