Hi @shi234t,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the keyboard on your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (Product ID: 2J4V9AV) is not working, here are a few steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears temporary hardware glitches:

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (USB, power, etc.).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power adapter and turn it on.

2. Check for Keyboard in Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X → select Device Manager
  2. Expand Keyboards
  3. Right-click your keyboard device (e.g., “Standard PS/2 Keyboard”) → Uninstall device
  4. Restart your laptop — Windows will reinstall the driver automatically

3. Use the On-Screen Keyboard

To confirm if it’s a hardware issue:

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard
  • Turn on the On-Screen Keyboard
  • If this works, the issue is likely with the physical keyboard

4. Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause keyboard issues:

5. Boot into BIOS to Test Keyboard

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly
  2. If the Startup Menu appears, the keyboard is working at the hardware level
  3. If not, the keyboard may be physically disconnected or faulty

6. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn off the laptop
  2. Press Esc, then F2 to enter diagnostics
  3. Run the Keyboard Test

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
