Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to upgrade my hdd to a m.2 ssd.  is there anyway i can add this as there is no slot on board.

Just wish you had come here first. 

 

See page 66 of the Service manual:

 

Manual

 

Yours is one of the models where you can install an M.2 but the only way is to get a different adapter board and cable.

 

And you can generally only get them from HP. Cost is about $60 or so for the additional parts you would need to fit an M.2 sata disk into the 2.5 inch hard drive bay. 

 

You could have just purchased a 2.5 inch SATA SSD and used the same hardware you have now. No speed advantage of a SATA M.2 over a SATA 2.5 inch SSD. And your laptop will not take a PCIe/NVME type M.2 disk. 

 

Post back with any more questions. If you have purchased the M.2 I hope you can return it and get a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.
