keyboard will not work with battery in place. battery is charged. driver is up to date. will work with usb keyboard. works fine with a/c power but battery out.

The specs of your machine is

It is around 6-8 years old. It's time to buy a new battery part # 671731-001 which is an old type battery (replace in 1 minute). HP Parts Store no longer supply that part, you can search online including eBay.
