What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

HP Recommended

hp 15-bs029ne

Your notebook supports DDR4-2133 CL15 memory.

Most folks would install DDR4-2400 CL17 memory since it is easier to find nowadays.

The faster memory will automatically bridge to 2133 MHz because that is as fast as your notebook's processor can run the memory at.

The max memory is 2 x 8 GB.

can i install 16 gig of ram?

HP Recommended

Yes, 2 x 8 GB as indicated in chapter 1 of the service manual:

HP 15 Laptop PC (Intel)HP 15g Laptop PCHP 15q Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

Now, if you are asking if you can install a 16 GB memory chip in one slot, that might be possible, but there is no guarantee it will work.

Run this report and if it indicates 33,xxx,xxx, then a 16 GB memory chip in one slot may work.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

If it does, you may as well leave the 8 GB chip in there, remove the 4 GB chip and see if the notebook will support 24 GB of memory.

Hi!

Paul, the value will be 32GB. 16GB modules will definitely work fine. The real question is will 64GB total system memory be supported: Memory upgrades for Essential HP Laptop 15-bs0xx (CompuRAM).

Hi, Tzortis:

32 GB of memory will be very expensive and 64 GB...IMHO the notebook isn't worth that much money to do such an upgrade.

That model is not a high end business class, gaming or performance PC, and I doubt it would benefit much from installing 2 x 32 GB of memory at over $385 USD.
