It should work...I think they are all backward compatible with each other..You can look at my post for upgrading the M.2 for the HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs0xxx...I bought the same Samsung one you listed...its running really fast and has no issue with my updates.

pci-e gen4 was released mid-2017

So there is a chance that your model does have it but I have not found a way to verify that it does???

I would hate for you to buy something and not get the full use  "SPEED" out of it???

I bought Samsung Evo 970 and installed on HP Pavilion 15-cc060wm.  The laptop only uses 1 channel of PCIe 3.0 x1, so I only got 900MB/s, really disappointed because the SSD supports up to 4 channel.  I called HP Support but no one knew what I am talking about.  I updated to the latest BIOS already.  I am still figuring out how to get 4 channels for the SSDs.  Any HP experts can help me to get 4 channels for the SSDs?

I just did a basic search on the web for your model.. It doesn't support M. 2 port. There no port for it.. I didn't see anyone listing a M. 2 spec for your model.. You can only do regular SSD drive only..
