Hi @omkakad01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Battery capacity can degrade over time due to various factors, and a 5% decrease in two months is not uncommon. However, there are a few things you can try to optimize and maintain your battery health.

Calibrate Your Battery:

  • Allow your laptop's battery to drain completely until it shuts down.
  • Charge it to 100% without interruption.
  • This helps calibrate the battery and provides a more accurate reading of its capacity.

Check Power Settings:

  • Make sure your power settings are configured to optimize battery life.
  • Adjust the power plan settings to balance performance and power consumption.

Update Device Drivers:

  • Ensure that your laptop's drivers are up to date, especially the battery and power management drivers.

Use Recommended Charger:

  • Always use the charger provided by the laptop manufacturer.
  • Using an incompatible charger might affect the battery's health.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures:

  • Exposing your laptop to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) can affect battery health. Try to keep it in a moderate environment.

Reduce Background Processes:

  • Limit the number of background processes and applications running, as they can contribute to higher power consumption.

Perform a Battery Report:

  • Open the Command Prompt as an administrator and type the following command: powercfg /batteryreport.
  • This will generate a battery report that provides detailed information about your battery's health and usage.

Remember that some capacity loss over time is normal for lithium-ion batteries.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
