My pc shows following HDD smart test results. What tests should be done before replacing HDD? Should I replace HDD with new SSD? if yes what steps should I need to follow?

Hi @shubhu_oulkar,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
- Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- Turn off the notebook.
- Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Select System Diagnostics (F2).
- Run tests for the Hard Disk, starting with the Quick Test.
- If the Quick Test fails, run the Extensive Test.
Steps for Replacing HDD with SSD
If your diagnostics confirm a failure, replacing your HDD with an SSD is recommended for better performance and reliability. Follow these steps:
Backup Your Data:
- Before replacing the drive, ensure you have backed up all important data to an external storage device or cloud service.
Purchase a Compatible SSD:
- Ensure the SSD is compatible with your HP Notebook model (15-da1041tu). Popular choices include Samsung, Kingston, Crucial, etc.
Create Recovery Media or Clone Drive:
- Create a recovery USB drive using HP Recovery Manager for reinstalling Windows and drivers.
- Alternatively, you might clone your current HDD to the SSD using software like Clonezilla or Macrium Reflect.
- You will need a Phillips head screw driver, a plastic pry tool, and the new SSD.
Replacement Steps
- Ensure the notebook is completely turned off and unplugged.
- Remove the battery from the notebook if it is removable.
- Open the bottom case of the notebook with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Use a pry tool to carefully remove the bottom casing.
- Unscrew the HDD bracket and carefully disconnect the HDD from its connector.
- Remove the HDD from the bracket.
- Place the SSD into the bracket and screw it into place.
- Connect the SSD to the notebook’s connector.
- Reattach the bottom case and screws.
- Reinstall the battery (if applicable).
- Use the recovery media created earlier to reinstall Windows and necessary drivers.
- Alternatively, if cloned, the SSD should boot up with your original settings and files intact.
I hope this helps.
