like i said my shift and x key do not work, every other key works perfectly, sometimes the keys work only upwards of 5 mins they will work, after those 5 mins they stop working completely, i have no idea what causes it, ive cleaned it THOROUGLY, ive tried updating drivers and even troubleshooted for the keyboard and noting fixes it, my product name and number and specs are, System Model OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dc1xxx, Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz, 2400 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s), OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Home, please help me, ive also looked up a person with a issue close to mine and was told that i would have to replace the keyboard which is the last thing i want to do, if that is the only thing i can do, then ill have to do it, and if this is the case i would like to know what the product i should buy is.

Hi @andrew2341
Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
I see that you are facing keyboard-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.
- May I know from when are you facing this issue?
- Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?
- What happens when you use an external keyboard on your system?
Please try the steps recommended below.
- Go to Control Panel then look for Ease of Access
- Click on Change how your keyboard works.
- Uncheck where it says Turn on Sticky Keys and click OK.
- If this doesn't work try checking the keyboard language if set correctly.
- Go back to Control Panel then look for Region and Language and make sure all tabs at set to the United States.
- Click Apply when a change is made then try your keyboard again.
- If your Shift key not working, there may be something wrong with your keyboard driver. You can update it or reinstall it to solve the problem. Here is the driver link.
If the issue persists, I would suggest you boot your system into safe mode and check the functionality of the keyboard in safe mode. Here is a link that will help you: CLICK HERE
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

hello thank you for responding, i started facing this issue on monday and its persisted since then, i have not made any changes to any software or hardware, when i use a external keyboard the external keyboard works perfectly but the laptop keyboard doesnt work, i would prefer not to have to use a external keyboard AT ALL as that would make me have to change alot of my setup and i like being close to my screen. I have done everything you told me to do (none of these worked) except for the driver one which i have yet to try, i looked and read the drivers in the keyboard category and most of them where touchpad drivers, the one called HP Wireless Button Driver (Windows 10 v1809) which seems to be the driver connected to my keyboard, what driver would be best recommend to put in for my keyboard. I also tried the safe mode with did noting, Thank you again.
