Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong group -- not clear whether it is an update problem, a software problem, or an operating system problem.
Anyway, I have this nice laptop and would like to get the most recent Windows 10 software on it. I have failures when doing Windows 10 updates and when installing additional software, such as Zoom. (I have reset the PC and reinstalled Windows 10 Home.)
The web page at https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/details/hp-pavilion-17-g200-notebook-pc-series-touch/model/1310... does not list any BIOS updates, making it seem that I have the most recent version. I have F.19 5/27/2016.
The HP Support Assistant (version 8, because I can't upgrade to version 9 yet) similarly doesn't show updates.
Before I reinstalled Windows, the Windows Update told me that I needed to update BIOS.
I suspect that HP has removed the updated BIOS that is specific to this machine, as it is more than 9 years old. I don't know why they would remove the very useful software that I need. Where can I find this BIOS update? (I did find something called driverscollection.com, which didn't have an update.)
Thanks in advance for any help or advice. I would like to continue using this laptop.

Hi:
HP has retired support for the model series since it is more than 10 years old which is why you can't find any drivers for it.
Below are the info and exe links to the latest BIOS update I could find for your notebook (F.53):
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93226.html
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93226.exe

Thanks so much! that was exactly what I needed. Now I'll see whether the software updates go through.
I understand that HP could stop support for older models, but I don't see why they would remove the link to the last-published BIOS update. Why not just leave that accessible?
I'm so glad that you responded. But, may I ask, how is it that you have the access to the information about these legacy downloads?

You're very welcome.
What I do is to search the internet using keywords.
In the case of your notebook, I did a search 17-g200 BIOS and this 3rd party website provided some useful info:
HP Pavilion 17-g200 BIOS Update and related drivers | Softpedia
Then I used a somewhat cumbersome method to locate the HP softpaq file numbers using a HP business class notebook just so I could find where the softpaq sequence was.
I found that the F.89 BIOS update was for 17-g200 models with the Intel processors and the F.53 BIOS update was for AMD processors.
I have asked more than once that HP to please do what Dell does and provide access to drivers for every PC they ever made but it went unheeded.
So, I have given up.
HP provides drivers for their business class PC's for a much longer period of time--certainly beyond 10 years.
So, we end up with this kind of situation.
Unfortunately, in come cases, I can't help find drivers/BIOS updates for retired PC's at all.
