Try the driver from Windows Update Catalogue for your Atheros ethernet card:

thank you guys for helping out. I now have successfully installed the network driver.
However, my internet is connected but it shows as "identifying" and won't connect to internet.
I have checked my router and it is working totally fine...
I tried reinstalling drivers.... resetting network.... nothing works... any help?

Hi, @jp94
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W7 ethernet driver from HP...
This package provides the original driver for the Atheros Ethernet Controller solutions in supported models that are running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56617.exe
And this would be the latest W7 wifi driver...
This package contains the driver installation package for the Ralink wireless LAN Controllers in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71001-71500/sp71421.exe
You can also find all of the other W7 drivers you need for your model from here...this model has the same motherboard as yours, but has W7 drivers. Do not use any of the BIOS or firmware files though. Those are model-specific.
