When I put a new battery in it says something about cmos battery

That isn't going to matter since the main battery won't work in your laptop.

You should have ordered a genuine HP battery with the HP part number that I provided in my earlier reply.

The battery voltage does matter!!

The smart chip in the battery and the battery management chip in the laptop are not having an "I'm ok you're ok and lets charge you up to full" conversation that they should be having on the SMBus on the laptop's system board.

The main battery is what supplies current to the CMOS.

Modern laptop don't use RTC batteries any more.

Oh I feel a little silly now but when I was checking the parts it said on there that the batteries works with multiple laptops including mine

Unfortunately not everything that is said in a web store is true.

That is why purchasing only using HP part numbers that come from a reference source instead of what is said in an ad gives you some recourse instead of the situation you are facing now.

You are going to need the HP battery part number I provided before.

This time  I suggest that you check the specifications thoroughly.

Thank you!. But looks like I'm gonna have to convince them to take the batteries back so I can get a different the proper one, thank you again, I'll update you when I can

Let them know what you told me about the advertising on the web page that said it was compatible.

Tell them what I explained to you about the voltage being incorrect and the part number not matching that of the original battery.
