There is a noise coming from an internal fan I think. Sounds like its around the bottom r/h side at the back (just under the power connection). It starts for about 3minutes then goes away, any thoughts or experiences here? thanks

Fan noise seems to happen quite often with HP laptops. I use a ProBook 470 G5 from 2019 and had a fan noise problem in 2021 which was repaired by HP thanks to a warranty extension I bought when purchasing the laptop. Only recently the noise problem came up again, this time I replaced the fan myself, since there was no longer a warranty and I would not have been happy to shell out significant cash for a repair (the buying price for the laptop was about 650 Euro).

I got a replacement fan for 35 Euro (shipping included), it arrived within 4 days after ordering. The replacement procedure was a bit tricky, since you have to carefully open the plastic notches that hold the top-cover, but following a how-to video this proved to be feasible. Once opened, changing the fan is an easy thing.

Noise problem was completely solved and I am as happy with the laptop as before. I wish HP had settled for a more reliable fan, hope this one lasts a bit longer than the previous ones.

Thanks Jirt. I have blew out the fan areas with air and fingers crossed that has worked. Appreciate you taking the time to offer a solution

Thanks BB, have used the air (externally) and waiting to see (or hear) if that has been successful
