optimal battery usage

Hello,

my simple question is: what is the best way to use my battery?

There are lots of tips in using my Notebook to care about my battery but I can't find a clear recommendation if I use my Notebook as a desktop Replacement with permanent power connection via cable. That means usually 4-6 hours in one piece.

Is it better to disconnect from the power connection with cable if the battery is fully charged or should I only disconnect the notebook in mobil use?

As far as I know, there is no intelligent circuit to recognize if the battery is fully charged and the power cable is always connected to use exclusively the power cable and save the battery. Rather it is so, that the battery begins to use after fully charged and so the battery would be permanently charged in little steps if the Notebook would be permanently connected with the power cable.

Let me know about your experiences. I'm happy about any suggestions.

No there is a smart chip inside the battery that stops it from charging once 100% charge is reached. Rule of thumb: if power is available use it. If not, use the battery. Try not to let the battery fall below about 15% charge. No problem to leave the laptop plugged in all the time and use like a desktop.
