Hi @keyir

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you're trying to determine the original UUID for your HP Victus 15-fa1000 after noticing that the current UUID has changed.

Based on HP documentation, the UUID is a unique system identifier that is programmed and stored in the system's DMI/firmware information. If a UUID has been modified, replaced, or reprogrammed,

HP does not provide a built-in method in BIOS or Windows to view the previous/original UUID. The system only reports the UUID that is currently stored in the firmware.

You can check whether the original UUID is recorded in any of the following HP sources:

  1. Review any older HP diagnostic reports (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics logs, IDR reports, or BIOS configuration exports) that were generated before the UUID changed.
  2. Check any previous service records or repair documentation if the system board was serviced.
  3. In BIOS Setup (F10), review the System Information page and note the currently programmed UUID.
  4. If the UUID was changed during DMI/Manufacturing Programming activities, the original value is generally not recoverable from the notebook itself once it has been overwritten.

To better understand what happened, could you share:

  • How you determined the UUID changed?
  • Whether the notebook had a motherboard replacement, BIOS recovery, or DMI programming performed?
  • The current UUID value shown in BIOS (you may mask part of it if preferred)?

That information will help determine whether the original UUID might exist in a previous HP-generated log or report.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I changed the DMI/UUID information myself using a DMI programming utility. There was no motherboard replacement. I no longer have the original UUID. Is there any way for HP to retrieve the factory UUID from the serial number/product number or from HP's service records for this device?

Hi @keyir

Thank you for the additional details and for clarifying that the UUID was manually changed using a DMI programming utility and that no motherboard replacement was performed.
