hello to whoever is reading this. Im going to keep this short and simple, my pc is not performing how it should and how it was when i first got it. This pc will freeze whenever it feels like it, when im playing games, or trying to multi-task. This pc also runs very hot and one of the fans is very loud. Ive even taken off one of the sides in hopes that it runs less hot but it doesnt do too much for the pc.

Hi @jeremy126,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with your PC freezing
If your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000i is experiencing performance issues, freezing, and overheating and one of the fans is loud, there are several potential causes and solutions. Here’s a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and fixing these issues:
1. Check for Overheating
Clean the Interior:
- Dust and debris can clog fans and vents, causing overheating. Use compressed air to carefully clean out dust from fans, vents, and heat sinks.
Check Fan Operation:
- Ensure all fans (including the loud one) are working properly. Verify that they are not obstructed and are spinning freely.
Improve Airflow:
- Ensure the PC has adequate ventilation. Place the PC in a well-ventilated area and avoid blocking any vents. If removing the side panel didn't help, it might be worth reinstalling it or using a PC case with better airflow.
Apply Thermal Paste:
- If the CPU or GPU is running very hot, consider reapplying thermal paste. Over time, thermal paste can degrade and lead to higher temperatures. This may require removing the heat sink and cleaning old paste before applying new paste.
2. Check for Hardware Issues
Inspect RAM and Storage:
- Ensure that RAM modules are properly seated. Run a memory diagnostic tool (like Windows Memory Diagnostic) to check for issues.
- Check the health of your storage drives using tools like CrystalDiskInfo. A failing drive can cause performance issues.
Test GPU and CPU:
- Monitor the temperatures of the GPU and CPU using tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner. Ensure that the temperatures are within safe limits.
- Run stress tests (using tools like Prime95 for CPU or FurMark for GPU) to check if the system freezes under load.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @jeremy126,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Ensure all drivers are up-to-date, especially graphics drivers and chipset drivers. Visit the HP support website or the hardware manufacturer's website for updates.
- Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your motherboard. BIOS updates can sometimes resolve compatibility and performance issues.
3. Check for Software Issues
Scan for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using a reputable antivirus or anti-malware tool to check for any malicious software that might be affecting performance.
Check for Background Processes:
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check for any processes that are using excessive CPU, memory, or disk resources. End unnecessary processes that might be affecting performance.
Adjust Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select High Performance. This can help improve performance if the system is running in a power-saving mode.
Reinstall or Update Software:
- If specific games or applications are causing issues, try reinstalling them or checking for updates. Sometimes software bugs can cause performance problems.
4. Perform a System Check
Run System File Checker:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run sfc /scannow to check for and repair corrupted system files.
Check Event Viewer:
- Open Event Viewer (search in the Start menu) and look for any critical errors or warnings that might give clues about the freezing or performance issues.
5. Consider Hardware Upgrades
Upgrade Cooling:
- If the PC is still running hot, consider upgrading to higher-quality fans or a more efficient cooling solution.
Increase RAM:
- If you are running multiple applications or games that require more memory, upgrading RAM can help improve performance.
Replace Thermal Paste:
- As mentioned, if thermal paste is degraded, replacing it can improve cooling performance.
If you have tried all the above steps and the issues persist, contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.
Keep me posted for further assistance
