Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

After reading your post, I did go through the Maintenance and Service Guide of your product and found that you have 1 3.0 slot PCIe x1 card
The ideal CPU goes with 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes and The mPCIe slot uses chipset PCIe 2.0 lanes.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

On which page did you find it?

I also can't find that specific info in the Service Manual but I am sure the wifi M.2 slot is an x1 slot. Are you thinking of an eGPU? If so use the Thunderbolt port for much better results.

HP Recommended

Yes, I'm thinking about egpu, but my laptop unfortunately hasn't thunderbolt 3 port.

The Manual seems to suggest that it does but you actually have it in hand. What icons are next to the ports on the back? Thunderbolt is one big bolt icon while non-Thunderbolt USB-C data, charge and Alt-DP is a small bolt and a usb right next to each other.

An eGPU connected to the wireless port will "work" but not optimally and I always advise against it. What video chip is built into the laptop? A 1050?

I already had this question here thunderbolt 3 support.

I'm aware, that for egpu I must have at least pcie 3.0 x4.
