My elitebook 820 g1 battery charging indicator doesn't work, the diagnostic hardware test results show that 1. the external power source is not connected ( even though it has been connected and the laptop is on), and 2.  the diagnostic hardware test results show that battery is not installed or not detected ( even though it has been connected and the laptop is on

Hello.

 

Your laptop is 10-year-old model and if the battery is the original one, at this point it could just be dead. Batteries have a finite life.

 

If the laptop does not work with battery power at all, I recommend removing and recycling the battery to prevent possible battery related problems (swelling, fire hazard). Your laptop can work without a battery as well.
