hp probook 6470b, 6465b and 6460b
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i see now win 11 is about to be upon us. i have 3 hp probook laptops. all 3 say not ready yet for win11. they may not ever be ready, but can anyone tell me if i can make them ready?  the 2 items not ready on them are the boot and that 1.2  trusted platform item that needs to be 2.2  now. anyway i went into the bios on the 6470b and i see it has uefi, i put it at legacy so i could install another hard drive and get windows to work as i kept getting that pirated message even though windows put the OS on my pc.

i figure i may have to back up everything and try to switch the bios back to uefi but maybe someone here has a way to do this with a few commands and i will not have to go thru all the extra work.

also i have read online that i may be able to install the 2.2 driver for that trusted system win 11 needs, i have 1.2 now on all 3 pcs.  so has anyone done this yet or going to do this or is it just pointless. all 3 of these pcs work great and i hate to have to get new machines just because windows now want us all to get new machines.

so if there is a way to get that 2.2 trusted driver installed and a command for switching back to uefi from legacy it might help to give it a try. unless by going to uefi will make my pcs not accept windows again.

thanks for any ideas.  if by chance i just can't do this then i may swap out the OS and give linux a try. i see the windows version of linux is out and maybe they will work hard to get it better to gain some more window users when win11 kicks us out. thanks bp.

You're very welcome.

The CPU size doesn't matter.

It is the generation of the CPU that matters.

Your PC's don't meet the following hardware specs.

Unsupported processor, no TPM.2.0, no secure boot.

Probably the graphics is not DX12 either.

Hi:

None of those PC's will be supported for W11.

The processors don't meet the requirements, nor do they support secure boot.

Folks can install W11 in an 'unsupported state.' by installing W11 from an ISO file when it is released.

This article is included on that link...

Unsupported Windows 11 PCs will get cumulative updates, at least for now (windowslatest.com)

Give it a few months after W11 comes out.

No doubt there will be some clever folks that find a way to have W11 work fine on almost any PC that can run W10.

W10 will continue to have full support until October of 2025.

ok thanks i guess i will wait for some clever folks to figure it out. and keep win10 until i have to start buying the anti virus programs. that will be far cheaper than paying hundreds of dollars for a new pc just to run a stupid OS because windows is buying nto the same plan that google did withthe chromebooks.  maybe by then the linux OS will have there windows look alike program running better. i'm banking on that. i have a hard drive int he mail now to put linuxfx/windowsfx look alike and will start learning the program.  thanks for that information and i have bookmarked that link for future reference.

can you tell me this. what is the lowest cpu that windows takes? i read i7 is the lowest but they have a lot of years for that number like gen 3 up to gen 11 at least on ebay. but  i see in walmart lots of laptops with i3 processors so i'm figuring those will not be supported for win11 either? or are the new laptops with the i3 processors going to be under the win11 umbrella?

so if you happen to know what would be the minimum hardware for win11? i know uefi, 2.2 trusted platform and certain cpus. but i'm wondering if walmart is not pushing those laptops to get rid of them before they become obsolete. thanks
