Pavilion DV7

I have a notebook pavilion DV7, and the processor (AMD phenom ii) was burned. I want to buy a new one. My motherboad is an 31LX8MB00S0  (daolx8mb6e1 rev E,  630834-001 HP partnumber). I tryed to find the top processor compatible, but I can't find any information. Someone could informe the list of compatible processors (or juts the top)?

Sure, I would expect close to 10% boost to CPU performance between the core, clock, and extra cache. Though personally I would look into getting a new laptop all together. CPU performance on a new ryzen or intel lake CPU at 15w would be multiple times faster, let alone the responsiveness that would come from a SSD where things actually open when you click on them.

my notebook é a HP Pavilion dv7-4263cl , but I dont want to buy the same processor, unless the actual be the top of compatible with the mobo

S1g4 socket actually is a pga socket so it actually should be possible to swap out the CPU as long as the bios supports it, the socket was so short lived, there is a very good chance the bios will.

Thing is, there will be major trade off changing the CPU, you can add more cores at same tdp but your single core performance will suffer, you can get a faster 3 core, but your batter life will suffer. Or you can get a faster quad core and have your batter life suffer even more. Or you can go down a core and have faster single core performance for the same tdp. Also, depending on the cooling situation of the laptop, going up in TDP would be a very BAD idea. End up in that macbook i9 situation where the perforance goes down because the cooler cant disapate the heat fast enough so the cpu throttles.

All in all, Its not worth it.  The single core performance of these chips is terrible compared to modern day counterparts in ryzen and whatever lake intel is on now.

Here is the list of compatable CPUs for that socket

I understand your concern about battery life, but it's not a problem to me. I So, looks like Phenom II X940 (45W, 2.4 GHz) its the faster processor, isn't?

Still my doubt: it is compatible with my MoBo daolx8mb6e1 rev E?

I would worry more about the cooler then the mobo, None of those laptops used a chip with a tdp higher then 35W. VRMs will run hotter as well, so again, I would worry more about cooling.

in this case, you think that Phenom II N970 (35W, 2.2 GHz) could be a good option?

A new notebook will  be great, but I live in Brazil, and fix this will be 10% of price of a new one, and it is good enough for me...

Thanks !
