Product name is HP G6 1331sa / A8M93EA#ABU
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Error message
If you cannot see the image, the link is http://prntscr.com/18s2dm
What I am trying to do is install a clean copy of Windows 7 Professional x64 from Microsoft. I have reasoning behind not using recovery disks and I have done this before on differant PCs and are therefore aware of having to reinstall drivers
Does anyone know where I can download the driver for the "CD/DVD drive device driver"? Checked on the support page for this laptop, found nothing
The recovery disks work fine, but I do not want to use them
Thanks for reading,
-James

Hi, James:
Most likely the media you are using is incomplete or a bad burn of the DVD if you made the installation media yourself from the ISO download on digital river.
There are no drivers missing. W7 has all the necessary drivers to install on your model.
Follow these instructions and see if you can get W7 installed that way.
I would use the MS ISO to USB tool.
Make absolutely sure you get the entire ISO file when you see the download complete message.
Sometimes it reports the download is complete and your ISO file is much smaller than what it said was downloading.
Use the W7 pro product key you have.
Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.

Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

Yeah, I shall do that now. After reading http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952951, it sounds as if that would be a good solution considering the laptop does not seem to fit in any of the resolutions in there
Thanks,
Will reply if it works.
-----EDIT-----
It worked. Thanks for your help. Gave kudos + accepted as solution

Windows 7 doesn't have USB 3.0 drivers, this may be the cause of some problems. The solution to installing Windows 7 from a USB drive is just to turn off secure boot in the BIOS, turn on Legacy booting, and install from a black port on the back of the computer, rather than using the blue USB 3.0 ports. Of course this will take a little longer to install but it works.
Someone COULD get the USB 3.0 drivers for Windows 7 and put them on the Windows install flash drive, when Setup prompts for the drivers move the flash drive to one of the USB 2.0 ports, browse for and install the drivers, then move the flash drive back to the front of the computer. Windows will definitely install faster this way, but is it worth spending all the extra time just to do this?
Solution below.
1. Download the Texas Instruments USB 3.0 drivers from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=5197679
2. Extract them with 7-Zip and place them on a separate USB drive from the Windows 7 installer.
3. Boot into the installer from a USB 3.0 port (after disabling Secure Boot and enabling Legacy boot in the UEFI Setup).
4. Once setup prompts you for drivers, browse to the extracted setup files on the flash drive in the USB 2.0 port. In my case this was "\sp57493\src\program files\Texas Instruments Inc\TIUSB3_HostDriver". Do not go into the "amd64" or "i386" folders, the driver inf files are in this folder and the Windows 7 Setup will not do a recursive folder scan for drivers. You should only see one option in the list of drivers; press Next. You will get an error message, NO PROBLEM!
5. Uncheck the box titled "Hide drivers that are not compatible with..." and select the "USB Root Hub" driver and press next.
6. Continue setup as normal.
After prepping the drives it takes roughly 10 minutes to install, from the initial boot of Setup from the USB drive all the way to the desktop. Another option would be integrating these drivers into the WIM: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744355(v=ws.10).aspx
