"battery not present" computer only 1.5 years old Barley used. OF course warranty ran up in May.

should i call HP ? do i get a new battery? how do i check the battery on the back?

@t768 Sometimes Windows does not detect the presence of a battery. This can occur even if your battery is working properly. To resolve this issue on your own, try the following possible solutions.

 

After each of these steps, test the battery to see if it worked. This can be done while the AC power is connected or when the notebook is running on battery-only power.

  1. Perform a hard reset.

  2. Reset the BIOS defaults.

  3. Update the BIOS.

  4. Determine if the notebook starts using battery only.
