HP ENVY x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my laptop show that i can use only 5,88 gb of RAM (installed 8 gd). i don't understand why. i tried some methods of resolving this issue, but no one worked. i tried open the BIOS, but there is no needed options connected with RAM at all. msconfig and a command line didn't help too. there is no integrated graphics processor. motherboard is hp 85de, processor is amd ryzen 5 3500u, and i don't think that problem is here.

what i suppose to do to unlock all of the RAM on my laptop?

Unfortunately, you cannot use all of the installed memory. The operating takes a chunk of it to use as overhead.

This is a very old question and there are many technical explanations for it, but overhead is, as you will discover, the most appropriate. All of us had this question at the beginning of our quest to understand operating systems and hardware.

If you want to have more memory available, you will need to install two compatible 8 GB memory modules.

Hi, @shirokuroshi

Actually, there is a specific reason why your notebook's model series has that problem.

HP released this document a while back, which explains the memory shortage...

This seems to only apply to notebook and desktop PC's with AMD Ryzen 3xxx processors.
