Hi,
I am assuming it is the 15-ac101tu (there is also the 14-ac101tu)
so max RAM is 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (2x8GB)
Example
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-ac101tu
On page 46 of service manual you can see the steps to install the RAM
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04653884.pdf
You should also replace the Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD which would give a great boost to the everyday performance of the machine.
Hope it helps,
David

The RAM in the machine is not single channel. It is running in single-channel because it is "alone", one module. If you insert another RAM module of the same size (GB) and speed the system should automatically run in dual-channel mode.

David

OK.
From the images, you can see that in slot one you have
SK Hynix PC3-8500F 4GB which runs at 1066MHz so it is not 1600MHz RAM. It is not the same RAM you linked in your post.
In the second slot you have 1600MHz RAM 4GB by Micron.
So to run the RAM in dual-channel model you need two modules of the same speed.
Hope it helps,
David
