Hi,

I am assuming it is the 15-ac101tu (there is also the 14-ac101tu)

so max RAM is 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (2x8GB)

Example

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-ac101tu

On page 46 of service manual you can see the steps to install the RAM

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04653884.pdf

You should also replace the Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD which would give a great boost to the everyday performance of the machine.

Hope it helps,

David

I am satisfied with your answer but couod u also tell me should I use single channel ram or dual channel ram.

HP Recommended

If you use 2 modules of the same RAM (capacity and speed) it will run in dual channel mode.

David

could you email me please how to run in dual channel cause I have 4gb in single channel in built and I buy another 4gb but it is in dual channel. How could I use both of them properly

HP Recommended

The RAM in the machine is not single channel. It is running in single-channel because it is "alone", one module. If you insert another RAM module of the same size (GB) and speed the system should automatically run in dual-channel mode.

David

I have already installed another ram of 4gb ddr3 1600 mhz but my laptop is still in single channel mode please give me any solution regarding this I shall be thankful to you.

I purchased it from here

OK.

From the images, you can see that in slot one you have

SK Hynix PC3-8500F  4GB   which runs at 1066MHz   so it is not 1600MHz RAM. It is not the same RAM you linked in your post.

In the second slot you have 1600MHz RAM 4GB by Micron.

So to run the RAM in dual-channel model you need two modules of the same speed.

Hope it helps,

David
